Eastwood's Pepper Golf Day

This is the fifth year that Janet Edwards has organised and coordinated the Eastwoods Pepper Golf Day for Joe Collier of Eastwood.  However, this was the 13th occasion that the golf day had been held.

On Wednesday 4th August, 23 teams enjoyed a bacon breakfast before a shot gun start and were rewarded with a sumptuous four course lunch before the prize giving and auction. Nigel Barden was once again in charge of the charity auction and provided much hilarity as well as managing to get money out of people's pockets!

Sonya O'Leary, Leader of the Nursing Team spoke about the Pepper Foundation and her talk brought us all in to sharp focus as to why we were all there!!

Once again we have had amazing support from our sponsors and those who donated prizes. With an extra competition running for the golfers, a Silent Auction, a raffle, Heads & Tails games and some magnificent auction prizes.

The day has raised in the region of £18,400 which is about £2000 up on last year, so a big thank you to everyone involved.

We were privileged to have Julie Laws, Mayor of Berkhamsted, with us to present the prizes and the winning team was Luther Blisset's ‘Sher Khan'. This year we welcomed our youngest ever player, Luke Wrathall, aged 9.

Let's hope for better weather for next year's event….which is already booked….but we know that our faithful golfers will be back for more.
