Tring Midsummer Fun Runs 2004

They're off!
Squally showers and high winds did not deter the 453 runners of all ages who took part in the fourth Tring Midsummer Fun Runs at Tring Park on Wednesday 23rd June. The series of races for all ages organised by Tring Running Club raised money for the Iain Rennie Hospice At Home.

'Football Fever' coach and Tring Athletic footballer, Stuart Stedman, was the official race starter.

The Mayor of Tring, Cllr Denise Rance, who is supporting Iain Rennie during her mayoral year, was on hand to present medals to all participants and cheer the runners on; blowing the starting hooter for the Senior Half Marathon.

Music was provided by stunning samba percussion band Sambuka from Hemel Hempstead.

Iain Rennie nurses Rachel Townsley and James Fisher both took part.  Rachel is hoping for a place in the 2005 Flora London Marathon and is training hard.  At least three previous IRHH London Marathon team members took part including Kevin Bettles, who finished in 25th place, Steve Hudson and Greg Dell.  IRHH's 2004 team is on target to raise a record-breaking £50,000 and IRHH Team Co-ordinator, Tony Yates is keen to hear from anyone who is thinking about taking part in the 2005 London Marathon or the British 10k Road Race in August.  Tony can be contacted at the IRHH office on 01442 890222 or email tyates@irhh.org .
