Become a Millennium Woodland Patron

Come along to help plant the young trees in February 2004

Where Is The Tring Millennium Woodland?

Tring Millennium Woodland was planted on land off Duckmore Lane in the year 2000 and it is now flourishing. Hundreds of local people supported the project by sponsoring trees and coming along to help plant the new woodland.

What Kind Of Trees Will Be Planted?

The existing woodland contains 1000 Oak, Ash and Cherry trees. The same mix of native saplings will be planted in the extended woodland. The second planting will double the size of the woodland and create glades and paths within the trees.

Over the coming years, the area will mature into a traditional, natural wood - a perfect habitat for wildlife and a wonderful legacy for future generations.

When planted, the saplings will be 2 years old and about 60cms high. The woodland will be regularly maintained and weeded and the trees will be thinned after 7 years.

When Will The Trees Be Planted?

The young trees will be planted over 2 weekends: the 7th/8th and 14th/15th February 2004 between 10am and 4pm. Further details will be available in due course.

Come Along To Help!

Everyone is welcome to come along to help plant the trees. Countryside Management Services will be on hand to supervise and assist. As hole boring equipment and expert help will be available, absolutely anyone will be able to play their part, but please wear suitable clothing and bring gloves and a spade. Trees and tree guards will be provided. We would love to hear from individuals and groups who would like to help plant the woodland.

Become A Patron Of The Tring Millennium Woodland

You can become a patron of the Tring Millennium Woodland by sponsoring one or more trees for a suggested minimum donation of £10 per tree. Although it will not be possible to identify individual trees, you can make a dedication for friends and relatives.

We regret that it is now too late to include details of dedications in the Commemorative Book which has gone to print.

You can download a form or complete your dedication on-line using a credit card.

Patrons will receive a card acknowledging their support, and the Commemorative Book will record the names of all Millennium Woodland Patrons and their dedications. This will be on display in Tring Library throughout 2004.

Your gift will be used to meet the growing need for the Iain Rennie Nursing Service which, like the Millennium Woodland, we hope will grow and develop for many years to come.

A Ceremony Of Dedication

A special Dedication Ceremony will be held at the woodland on Sunday 12th September 2004 when the young trees will be in leaf. Everyone will be welcome to come along for a picnic followed by a short ceremony to celebrate the establishment of the Tring Millennium Woodland. Further details will be available in due course.
