Kiki Dee Performs at Butterfly Night |
Iain Rennie Hospice at Home Nurses gave up their time to serve the supper and run the bar at the Butterfly Evening in the Victoria Hall in Tring on Saturday 18th November.
Master of Ceremonies and Iain Rennie Patron, John Bly managed the evening in entertaining style. He had everyone rocking, particularly with his spoon playing talents. He introduced some local performers including Michael Berstein who regaled the audience with some hilarious renditions, Tom Reed presented classical guitar pieces, retired doctor Andy Higginson performed magic tricks at each table and Amanda Higginson sang. The entertainment highlight of the evening was an appearance by singing star Kiki Dee and her accompanyist Carmelo who had interrupted their current tour to support IRHH. Kiki included her 1976 hit “Don't Go Breaking My Heart” which she had duetted with Elton John.
The raffle raised over £700 and the auction items raised £1800 and included a day at the races, hampers, a pampering spa day and two tickets for Arsenal v Tottenham.
An unusual auction lot was to be Commandant for the Day at RAF Halton and the surprise winning bid came from Iain Rennie Hospice at Home's Chief Executive, Rowena Dean, along with Peter James, whose story appeared in the HH Gazette on 25th October. We look forward to seeing how Rowena and Peter use their time as RAF Commandants in the New Year
