BTCC stars challenge ITV in charity football event

The British Touring Car Championship team

On Sunday 29th October Chesham United Football Club hosted a charity football match in aid of IRHH following the launch of the emergency appeal.

The British Touring Car Championship team donned their football boots (some bought that morning!) and entered the pitch in a swish new yellow Dunlop sponsored kit! They were followed by a very competitive ITV Sport team ready to do battle.

At half time members of the crowd who had their lucky programme numbers picked out of a hat came onto the pitch for a penalty shootout competition. The fortunate winners won a day out at any touring car event and all competitors received goodie bags donated by generous sponsors.

Despite the valiant efforts of Player/Manager Luther Blissett in trying to drum the BTCC team into shape the experience of the ITV Eleven proved too tough a challenge. The final score was 13 goals to 3 with the ITV Sport team declared convincing winners.

As well as the football match there were other attractions on the day such as, a hog roast, Rennie Bear tombola and the Bigger Picture Roadshow. So far the day has made a magnificent £500 for IRHH – a figure expected to increase as the BTCC team auction their autographed kit.

The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home would like to thank all those involved for their support. We will be back at Chesham's Ground, The Meadow, on Friday 3rd November when IRHH are to benefit from a bucket collection held at the Fireworks evening.
