On Friday 27th July, the Buckinghamshire Building Society marked its Centenary year with a Members' Barbecue held in the Merlin's Cave pub in Chalfont St Giles. Earlier in the day the Society proved its generosity to the community by giving donations to some local charities. Chairman Howard Machin presented cheques to the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home, the National Society for Epilepsy, the Chalfont St Giles Community Library, the Chiltern Society to replace stiles with gates on local walks, Milton's Cottage Trust, Chalfont St Peter Village Association for new flags for the village's St Peters Day celebrations and Chalfont St Peter Parish Council towards the renovated Coronation clock on Gold Hill Common. Mr Machin said, “It is important to remember our community spirit and we are pleased to be able to help all of these great local causes.”
