In December a group of members (mostly ex-players) from Tring Squash Club gathered for lunch at the Valiant Trooper in Aldbury. From an inaugural lunch in Dec 2000, the event has gone from strength to strength. Starting as a Christmas meal for eight, the lunch has gained popularity in the squash club and this year 23 attended, all dressed as Hillbillies!
One reason for the event's success has been the adoption of a theme based on a TV comedy. This year's theme was The Beverly Hillbillies!
Previous themes were Dad's Army, Only Fools and Horses, Porridge, Allo' Allo', Last Of The Summer Wine, and Father Ted. In aid of Iain Rennie there was a raffle, an auction, bluegrass CD's for sale, and lots of fines for misdemeanors! A fantastic £414 was raised.
