On 3rd February the Marlow Bottom WI held a coffee morning. Inspired by a by talk from Christine Nisbet about IRHH's nursing service, Lis Neighbour and friends decided to spring into action to fundraise for our Emergency Appeal. Here is Lis's report of the day:-
“The morning went very well - it looked like a lot of people through the door. The total support I and my willing helpers received was overwhelming. My small bedroom was literally full to the ceiling before the event, but with the help of Gordon's van and Peter's brawn we managed to get it to the venue on the morning. However, that was not all, during the morning bagfuls of items were delivered during the first half hour, too much to be put out straight away as the tables were overflowing, however, the 5 ladies on the bring & buy although being grossly overworked managed wonderfully. The cakes came in from all sides and the cake table was very popular till the last minute. The books, the bear and the raffle were equally money spinners.
The raffle ladies badgered, the bring & buy ladies huffed and puffed, the provisions table wrapped and parcelled, the two lovely kitchen staff managed against all odds and Lis ran around like a headless chicken!
The final takings on the day was £733 but with further donations and sales the end result in countable cash is £820.
Although numbers through the door were high there were understandably a lot of good items left over on the bring & buy table, but we managed during the following week to get it to the Iain Rennie shop in Desborough Road and the Manager there, Pamela Hughes gratefully received the lot.
People's kindness and help was overwhelming.”
We hope Lis's report will encourage other groups to hold an event for IRHH. Our fundraising team are always happy to provide advice and support and would love to hear from you!
