1st Wendover Hermes Explorer Scouts E80 walk |
![]() Happy Days early in the walk |
IRHH were very grateful to receive £414 from 1 st Wendover Hermes Explorer Scouts Leader, Ian Watson, along with news of their very own incredible journey. The group of 12 were sponsored to compete in a 50 mile Challenge of Endurance walk across the Chilterns. The vast circular route started and finished in Wendover and went via Princes Risborough, Stokenchurch, Great Missenden, Chesham and almost as far east as Tring. Their aim was to complete the distance within 24hours. 6 brave lads made it to the finish, completing the route in less than 19 hours – an amazing and inspiring achievement! As Ian says “ It is a very, very long way and unless you have completed E80 you cannot understand how much of a challenge it really is!” IRHH would like to thank the Explorers and all the leaders and helpers who gave up a day (and most of the night) to zoom around the Chilterns from check point to check point to give refreshments, encouragement and lifts home. Well done guys! To read the full story please visit www.hermesexplorers.blogspot.com . The event took place in October 2006. |
