We are very grateful to all our team. Luckily for the runners and spectators the rain held off for most of the race. Tom Aspinall said “In truth, I did not RUN the race, but walked the 10K because I've had a bit of Achilles tendon trouble. I arrived at the finishing line a good hour after the leaders, in the company of various chubby ladies and porky men” whilst Toby Friedner commented “The most memorable thing for me was running across Westminster Bridge in the sunshine as Big Ben struck 11. I'll never forget where I was on the 1st July 2007 at 11am”. Mairi Anderson enjoyed herself and had a crafty motivational strategy “Out of 30,000 competitors we hung about at the back of the starting line up which gave us a huge psychological boost as we took over hundreds of people and hardly anyone overtook us All in all it was a most enjoyable day. I would definitely do this event again.” |

Sheila Coles had a great day and completed the course within an hour, whilst Craig Purvey achieved a time of 55 minutes for his first ever 10k race. Kelly Harding said “We had a fantastic day. This was the first time I had ever done anything like this before and I thought I'd end up struggling and walking, but the atmosphere, spectators and people taking part were great and really kept you going. I was able to run most of it and it was also a great boost to know you were raising money for a very worthy cause. Both my Dad and I have said we will definitely do it again next year.” The 2007 British 10k race was oversubscribed with entries closing in May. If you would like to run the British 10k for IRHH in 2008, please book your place early with the IRHH Fundraising team. |
