The Mayor Of Dacorum, Cllr Brian Ayling, Chooses IRHH as his charity for his mayoral year

The new Mayor's inaugural speech
The new Mayor of Dacorum, Cllr Brian Ayling has chosen the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home as the charity he wishes to support during his year in office.  Cllr Ayling was sworn in at the Council's Annual Meeting at Dacorum Civic Centre in Hemel Hempstead on Wednesday 16th May.

In his speech, Cllr Ayling said, "I have already had to make a difficult decision as to which charity I would choose as the Mayor's Charity for the next year. I have chosen the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home as that charity. I have had the good fortune to have had contact with, and visited, them at their Tring headquarters over the past year. It was at one of those visits that I had the privilege of not only meeting with the fundraisers but with the nurses and professionals at the front of the Hospice's work. Not only was I astounded at the level of commitment each of the team has, but at the depth of patient concern to which they carry out their work. Their outreach is incredible and it made such an indelible imprint on my mind that it concentrated my thinking and simplified the choice, and in having the Iain Rennie name associated with this year's charity."
He added, "This year will see that the Mayor's Charity is not only about people care as a Hospice, but, also, about environmental care. The Hospice and I are keen to promote its “green credentials” with a special recycling promotion for used ink cartridges and mobile phones."

"I now look forward to being able to promote their admirable cause and help them to raise the vital funding necessary for their mission to be able to continue."

The meeting was followed by a reception hosted by the new Mayor and his wife, Pat.
