A Sports Personalities Dinner on Thursday 24th May has raised in excess of £16,000 for the IRHH. Organisers, IRHH Hon. Treasurer, Chris Langford, Bob Mayson and host, ITV Sports Presenter and IRHH Vice President, Peter Drury, welcomed celebrity guests from the world of sport to the sell-out event at Pendley Manor, Tring. All of the guests generously waived their fees to support the hospice at home charity which provides 24 hour on call nursing support and care for terminally ill people in the Chilterns area. This was the fourth annual Sports Personalities Dinner organised by the team and brought the total raised by these events to over £50,000.

Gabby Logan from BBC Sport was joined by her husband, former Scotland and London Wasps winger, Kenny Logan, Sports Presenter and former Arsenal goalkeeper, Bob Wilson, Boxing Commentator, John Rawling and Premier League Football Referee, Graham Poll. After dinner, the team formed a panel, tackling a variety of questions from the audience ranging from cheating in sport, the London Olympics and the panel's most memorable sporting moments.

Bob Mayson raised more than £4,000 by auctioning some amazing items including tickets to the London premiere of the latest Harry Potter film, sporting memorabilia and a private cinema screening in Soho . A silent auction raised a further £3,000. Further donations are still being received and the £16,000 plus total may rise further.

Speaking on behalf of the Iain Rennie Nurses, IRHH Director of Nursing, Sue Varvel thanked the organising team and guests for staging another hugely successful evening, the fourth such event to be organised. She said, “The amount raised this evening goes a long way towards funding an Iain Rennie Support Nurse who can make a huge difference to the lives of terminally ill patients and their families living in the Chilterns area. The £50,000 raised over the last four years is amazing and I want to thank everyone who has helped to make tonight such a success either by providing items for the auctions or by coming along to support a great occasion.”
