Starting at 3pm on Saturday 15th December, Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club is running a 24hr swimming marathon at Sportsplace pool in Hemel Hempstead, ending at 3pm on Sunday 16th.

Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club and its families have formed 24 teams of 5 swimmers, each team taking up a 1hr slot of this swimming epic! We are looking for further teams of between 1-5 swimmers to form a second relay team made up of members of the public – can you and your friends and family help?! All that is required is that each swimmer feels comfortable swimming 1 length of a 25m pool, and that each team of 5 is able to raise the small sum of £80 in sponsorship. The proceeds of which will be split evenly between the Hospice of St. Francis and the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home.

If each swimmer can manage the leisurely pace of 1 minute per 25m, a 24hr relay team will have swum the equivalent of the English Channel ! Who knows, quicken the pace and we may manage a ‘return trip'… who else can say that they took part in a channel crossing swim!?
