On Bank Holiday Monday 27th August, Beaconsfield Old Town closed for the afternoon to make way for the Beaconsfield Country Fayre. The fayre was organised to raise money for IRHH and St Mary's Church Raise the Roof Appeal.
Over 3,000 people turned out for the activities which included stalls, crafts, live music, children's amusements, horticultural, floral, photographic and art competitions, spit roast, BBQ, cream teas and a beer tent.
The event also saw the return of the popular Stretcher Race, an event which hasn't happened for nearly a decade. The race is as you would imagine, teams carrying one member around a course on a stretcher. The Beaconsfield Bandits won the race with a time of 11 mins 30 secs.
There was a prize for the best dressed which was won by Willy Wonka and the Umpa Lumpas. Their runners threw sweets to the crowd which was a big hit.
Tom Johnson, member of the IRHH Beaconsfield Fundraising Group was delighted to be presented with a cheque on the day from John McCarrol. John was representing the Cross Reference Golf Day committee who raised £2,132.95 for IRHH from their golf day which took place at Oaklands Park Golf Club on Wednesday 23rd May.
