Down Tow Up Flow

The Start

On 29th July 2007 , Debbie Lea, Hester Thorp and Harriet Queralt took part in ‘Down Tow Up Flow' - a half marathon from Marlow to Windsor.

Debbie Lea reports, “We raised £885 for IRHH in the end and we are over the moon about it. I don't think we believed we could actually run the whole thing but we did. The only times we walked were twice to drink water, so it didn't go up our noses and once where it was so boggy we thought we would loose our trainers!

The race was in doubt right up to the day before, as the summer floods all along the Thames had only happened two weeks before. It was re-routed at the beginning (adding a huge hill - just not fair!) but apart from that it was the planned lovely route along the Thames from just below Marlow to Windsor.

The injuries we gained were a severe loss of toe nails (not good in the summer with flip flops) and not being able to walk up and down stairs for three days after. Apart from that we faired very well.

We are also really pleased we could raise such a great amount for a good cause. It certainly kept us going through all the aches and pains.”

The girls raised all of their sponsorship via their personalised Just Giving webpage which is so simple to use. It allowed their friends, family and colleagues to sponsor them online, and saved the girls going round collecting cash from their sponsors after the event. An additional £215.77 has been added to their total of £885 which is Gift Aid claimed on the sponsorship donations.

IRHH would like to thank the girls and their sponsors for their support.
