An Evening with the Aurora Duo

Over 80 guests filled the Gade and Bulbourne Room at Hemel's Civic Centre, to enjoy a recital by the Aurora Duo. Harpist Kate Smith and flautist Dawn Miller entertained with a varied programme of duet and solo pieces, each introduced with a short history of the music, the composer or a personal anecdote.

“Greensleeves” was specially chosen as a favourite by Mayor of Dacorum, Cllr Brian Ayling. It was only later he realised what an appropriate choice he had made – Greenleeves was composed for Henry the Eighth in his quest to woo Anne Boleyn. The Mayor of Dacorum's chain of office which Brian was wearing also bears a portrait of Henry VIII.
