Laura's winter warmers

Tring resident Laura Mills presents IRHH nurse Jane Hills with cheques totaling £750 following a mammoth knitting enterprise that started last August.  Laura, whose late husband Arthur was cared for by IRHH nurses during his final days, wanted to do something to thank IRHH so decided to knit scarves and sell them for £5 each.  Laura's daughters bought the wool, and over the winter months Laura has knitted over 100 scarves of various colours and styles, many of which were sold at the bank where one of her daughters works, and who were able to match the amount raised.

Laura explained: “I really wanted to do something positive after Arthur died to keep me occupied, but also to raise money for the IRHH nurses who were so kind to Arthur in his final days, and have been to me ever since.  It has given me an enormous amount of pleasure, and I'm thrilled that we have managed to raise as much as we have.”

But Laura hasn't stopped there.  She is still busy knitting scarves, so if anyone would like one for themselves, or as a present, please contact the IRHH Fundraising team on 01442 890222 or send a cheque (payable to IRHH) to the Tring office.
