Dame Judi Dench And Geoffrey Palmer Together Again – For Charity

Three of Britain 's best loved thespians – Dame Judi Dench, Geoffrey Palmer and Ian Richardson – were together at the Centenary Theatre at Berkhamsted Collegiate School on Sunday 28th March for a special fundraising event – a performance of “Fond & Familiar” in aid of the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home and Abbeyfield Great Missenden.

Geoffrey Palmer is a Patron of both charities, while Dame Judi is a Patron for Abbeyfield and so they came up with the idea of a special performance of readings from late 19th to early 20th century works, arranged by fellow actor John Moffat, to help with fundraising. “It's a blend of history and variety and is great fun” said Geoffrey. Ian Richardson also generously contributed his time, as well as antiques expert John Bly from Television's Antiques Roadshow.

The evening commenced with a Champagne Reception and the capacity audience was enthralled by a performance of readings, poems, nursery rhymes and epitaphs which moved between high comedy and deep emotion.

Organisers hope that over £20,000 will be shared between the two charities.
