British 10k London 2005

On Sunday 3rd July, 18 people took part in the British 10k London, raising sponsorship for IRHH.  Our biggest team ever, the course took our runners along some of the world's most famous streets including Piccadilly, Pall Mall, Whitehall and The Embankment and past sights including Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, St. James's Palace and the London Eye.

People chose to run for IRHH for lots of different reasons.  Tom Aspinall , a long-term supporter and IT projects volunteer, said “It was great!  I thoroughly enjoyed it and finished the course in 55 minutes and 28 seconds.  I'm hoping to have raised  £750 in sponsorship.”

Alison McNichol also ran, with Sammi Pearce and Michelle Prosser.  Alison was over the moon that they completed the run and knocked a whole hour of their expected time!  “It took us 1 hr and 32 minutes!” she said, “and it was such a great feeling to cross the finish line.  Knowing that the money we have raised will be going towards the nurses who cared for my Aunty Anne is all the motivation we needed, letting Iain Rennie Hospice at Home nurses look after other people's loved ones in the same way.  Thank you very much for giving us the opportunity to take part.  And I am trying to convince others to take part in the British 10k next year!”

Thanks to all our runners in this year's British 10k, and to all their sponsors.  If you would like to join an IRHH running team, please contact the fundraising team on 01442 890222.
