Volunteers are incredibly important to our work and we have over 600 volunteers giving their time and skills in all areas of our organisation. There are many different opportunities and a wide range of activities that volunteers can get involved with.
If you have some time to spare, whether it's a few hours once a week, once a month or once a year, then please see our current volunteer opportunities below for the ways in which you could help us.

BANKING AND CLERICAL ASSISTANT (TRING)
Would you like to help our Finance team based in Tring? We are looking for another Banking Volunteer for half a day on Tuesdays or Wednesdays to prepare funds for banking, update the excel spreadsheet and take the funds (often large quantities of coinage) to the bank. Basic excel experience is required.
CLINICAL AUDIT ADMIN SUPPORT (GILLAIN KING HOUSE)
Our Clinical Audit Lead is looking for a volunteer to assist her for half a day a week at our office in Chalfont St Giles to take over from our existing volunteer who leaves at the end of June. Duties include inputting data form the carer survey and on-call audit, preparing audit reports and research files to obtain audit information. Computer literacy particularly excel is required.
E-NEWS CO -ORDINATOR (TRING)
We are looking for another volunteer to join our team who manage our e-News service. The e-News Co-ordinator will work with other members of the team to prepare mailings, manage the database and send out e-News bulletins. The volunteer will join a rota so a weekly commitment is not required.
SEWING MACHINISTS
Calling all sewing machine enthusiasts! Our Retail and Trading team is looking for additional volunteers who would be happy to work from home sewing our Iain Rennie Day Bags – all made from donated material. Help us to make plastic bags a thing of the past!
BEREAVEMENT VISITORS
Would you like to join our team of Volunteer Bereavement Visitors? Volunteer Bereavement Visitors offer bereavement support to families through one to one support, attendance at regular social support groups or telephone contact. This role does NOT involve counselling clients but supporting them. The interview process is starting now with a 10 week course being planned for mid September 2008
COMPLEMENTARY THERAPISTS
After a successful pilot, we are recruiting for additional qualified volunteers in Aromatherapy or Reflexology to provide a holistic approach to our patients and their carers. Volunteers will need to be available to provide a minimum of 2 treatments per week and attend a monthly nursing team meeting. Our Complementary Therapy Volunteers work as part of our nursing teams in our patients homes. We are looking for volunteers to work with our Ridgeway, Wycombe and South Bucks adult teams, and a volunteer to work with our Paediatric team who has experience of providing treatments to both adults and children.
VOLUNTEER DRIVERS – TOW MOBILE EXHIBITION UNIT (MEU)
We urgently need Volunteer MEU Drivers who would be prepared to tow the MEU (using their own vehicle equipped with a tow bar) to locations across the Chilterns, set up the Unit and return to collect it later.
STREET COLLECTION CO-ORDINATORS (HOME BASED)
We are looking for a number of volunteers who would be willing to co-ordinate our street / store collections. This would include organising the rota (which could be done from home) and being there on the day to liaise with the collectors. Co-ordinators are needed for the following collections scheduled for 2008: Tring, Hemel Hempstead , Wendover, Tesco Hemel Hempstead and Tesco Tring. This is an ideal opportunity to help IRHH with a project on an annual basis. Please contact Rozina for further information.
VOLUNTEER E-BAY LISTERS (AKEMAN STREET)
Our Retail & Trading team are looking for enthusiastic, computer literate volunteers to list donated items on our ‘Virtual Charity Shop' on E-bay. Knowledge of collectables will be very useful but not essential! If you can spare some time on a Wednesday or Friday we would love to hear from you.
RAFFLE PRIZE VOLUNTEER (TRING OFFICE or HOME-BASED)
We are looking for a volunteer who would be available on a fortnightly basis to contact local businesses to obtain raffle prizes for our various fundraising events. Our raffle prize volunteer will support our busy fundraising team, who are based in Tring, however this role could easily be a home-based opportunity.
ROADSHOW VOLUNTEERS
The IRHH Bigger Picture Roadshow will be visiting localities and events throughout the area where we will enlist new supporters and their picture will be taken to add to The Bigger Picture. A very busy campaign is planned for 2007 and our fundraising team are looking for volunteers to attend the roadshows to welcome new supporters to IRHH. If you would like to help and have some time to spare on a flexible basis we would love to hear from you.
VOLUNTEER SHOP ASSISTANTS
Would you like to meet people, make new friends and have fun? You could really help us by volunteering in one of our shops for just a couple of hours a week (or more if you can!). We urgently need volunteers in our shops in Amersham, High Wycombe , Tring and Warners End, but all of our shops would welcome additional help.

RELIEF RECEPTIONISTS (TRING)
Our Relief Receptionists cover holiday periods etc and answer the phones, welcome visitors to the office and help with general admin.
VOLUNTEER PHOTOGRAPHERS
We are looking for volunteer photographers to attend various events throughout the IRHH area. If you enjoy meeting people and have some time to spare on a flexible basis please get in touch.
MOBILE EXHIBITION UNIT/EVENT REPRESENTATIVES
We are looking for volunteers to man our Mobile Exhibition Unit, which is used as a public information point at various fairs, shows and other events during the year throughout the IRHH area. Our volunteers run tombolas, raffles and provide information about our work to visitors to the Exhibition Unit. This role is very flexible and our volunteers are contacted when help is needed.
HOME & SHOP BOX COLLECTORS
If you don't have much time to spare but would like to help IRHH, how about joining our team of Home & Shop Box Collectors? We only need your help a few times a year collecting boxes in your area. We are particularly looking for help in Aylesbury, Aston Clinton, Chalfont St Peter and Gerrards Cross.
IRHH AMBASSADOR/S (PRESENTATIONS)
We would love to hear from volunteers who would be happy to speak at clubs' and associations' meetings (including Rotary, Women's Institute, Golf Clubs) to raise awareness of our work. Training will be given about how to use our '20 Years of Caring' presentation and a suggestion of what to say.
VOLUNTEER MERCHANDISE SELLERS
Do you have some time to spare on a flexible basis? We are looking for volunteers to join our team of merchandise sellers who sell merchandise for us at various events throughout the year. Events may include fetes, golf days, concerts and fun days.
EVENT VOLUNTEERS
IRHH & its supporters organise many events each year, including Light Up A Life, wine tastings, concerts, golf days and fun days. We are looking for volunteers to help at events to sell raffle tickets, man a stall, distribute leaflets and serve tea/coffee/refreshments. If you have some time to spare, particularly during evenings & weekends, this is a fun way to get involved.
