Philosophy of Care

The IRHH Patients' Charter and Mission Statement are underpinned by the following philosophy which is embraced by everyone working for the organisation.

  • The service should be free of charge to patients, their family and carers.
  • Iain Rennie nursing care should be available to patients of any age, both adults and children, with a life threatening diagnosis
  • Iain Rennie care extends into the bereavement period. All members of the family are our concern and they should be offered the support and time to express their fears, uncertainties and wishes.
  • The patient and their family should have the right to choose the place of death and to be cared for and supported in the way that they wish
  • Every member of staff whether employed or a volunteer contributes to the care of our patients through their day to day role.
  • The Iain Rennie service relies on staff who are specialists in their field. Educational opportunities are an intrinsic part of our organisation.
  • Everyone working within the IRHH service should receive appropriate support for what they do.
  • There is a clear responsibility on everyone who represents the IRHH in any capacity to support and promote the organisation in an informed way
  • We should never be afraid to ask for help in support of our cause.
