ACT Association for Children with life-threatening or terminal conditions and their families: ACT is the only UK organisation working to improve care and services for all children in the UK with life-threatening or terminal conditions and their families. This site provides contact information, information about upcoming events including training events and general information about the charity. Also available is where to find children's hospices and other useful organisation as well as a helpline. www.act.org.uk
CLIC Sargent Cancer Care for Children: Provides professional help and practical care to children (under 21 years of age) diagnosed with cancer, and to their families. The website provides contact information, up to date news, events and publications. Also available is how you can help or donate to the charity. www.clicsargent.org.uk
Riprap: A website that can help young people cope when a parent has cancer. You'll find stories from other young people going through various situations. You'll also find information and tips to help you understand and deal with what is going on in your family. www.riprap.org.uk
RD4U: Designed for young people aged between 12 and 18 who have been bereaved, this site is from the Youth Involvement Project which is part of the national charity, Cruse Bereavement Care. The site includes details of a free helpline, plus information on coping with bereavement. www.rd4u.org.uk

Children's Hospices UK: is the charity that gives voice and support to all children's hospice services. Their vision is for every child and young person who is not expected to reach adulthood and their family to have access to the highest standards of children's hospice care and support. www.childhospice.org.uk

Sibs: For the brothers and sisters of people with special needs. Sibs is for people who grow up with a brother or sister with special needs, disability, or chronic illness.  There are at least 2 million of these siblings in the UK. Many need support and information at different stages of their lives. Our purpose is to make a positive difference to the lives of siblings - to make growing up with someone with special needs a bit easier. www.sibs.org.uk
The Childhood Bereavement Network: Formerly known as the Childhood Bereavement Project, the CBN has been working since 1998 to ensure the right of all children and young people to information, guidance and support to enable them to manage the impact of death on their lives. www.ncb.org.uk/cbn
Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund:  The main objective of this registered charity is to relieve sickness and distress among children suffering from cancer, as well as members of their family.  They do this in any way that the Trustees feel will be beneficial to the sick child, usually in the form of medical equipment, holidays, special gifts and research. www.thomasball.org.uk
Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK has a very simple objective - to grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. The charity was founded in the UK in 1986 and since then has granted over 5,500 wishes.  With over 20,000 children in the UK living with life-threatening conditions at any one time, our work is never ending.  Our aim is to ensure that every one of these children is able to experience the magic and joy of a Make-A-Wish wish. www.make-a-wish.org.uk
