Wendover Memorial Woodland

UPDATE MARCH 2010: IRHH'S RESPONSE TO PROPOSED NEW RAIL LINK

Having looked at the plans recently released by the Department of Transport, we do not believe that our Memorial Woodland in Wendover will be adversely affected if and when the new rail link is built.

The many supporters who made dedications to the Woodland and helped with the tree-planting are extremely important to the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home, and we will naturally be doing everything we can to protect the future of our Memorial Woodland.

We will keep a very close eye on developments regarding the planned rail link, and will seek assurance from the contractors that the work will not disturb an area of land which is now so special to many people.

It's not too late to remember your loved ones by making a donation towards the Wendover Memorial Woodland !

Although we have already received over £20,000 in dedications towards the Woodland, we can still accept more.

Dedications can be made in memory of friends and relatives. Their names, and yours, will be included in a Commemorative Book and you will receive a certificate for each dedication acknowledging your support. The Commemorative book will be on display at the Tourist Information Centre in Wendover later this year.

Your gift will be used to meet the growing need for the Iain Rennie nursing service which, like the Woodland, will grow and develop for many years to come.

Tree-planting

In February 2010 we held two very successful planting days, with several hundred people visiting the Woodland site to plant over 450 native British saplings.  Click here to view pictures and read more.

Where is the Wendover Memorial Woodland?

The site overlooks the village of Wendover, between Bacombe Lane and Ellesborough Road, with delightful views stretching far across the Chilterns area. We are sure it will be a wonderful place to visit, to reflect and to remember.

A ceremony of dedication

A special ceremony of dedication is planned for 12 September 2010 when the young trees will be in leaf. Please join us with your picnic to celebrate this very special Woodland.  More information will be issued nearer the time.
