The beautiful weekend sunshine delivered perfect weather for the Chilterns Cycle Challenge on Sunday when hundreds of cyclists pedalled their way through the local countryside to raise money for IRGH.  The event was a big success with around 350 participants and 100 volunteers and staff turning out to ensure the smooth running of this annual fundraising event.

The atmosphere at the start and finish line in Kingsbury Square in Aylesbury was lively as cyclists of all ages set off on their choice of either 75 mile, 35 mile or 10k routes.  Cycling enthusiasts, including members of cycling clubs, saddled up alongside occasional cyclists and plenty of families to use their pedal power for a good cause. Although there were some definite tired legs at the finish line, there were plenty of beaming smiles as the cyclists returned to receive their medals.

Sponsorship money is still coming in, but it is hoped that the event will have raised in the region of £35,000 to help fund the charity's 24/7 nursing and support services and the day hospice.  Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to raise money and then rose to the challenge on the day.  We would also like to thank all of our lovely marshalls who spent the day in the sunshine directing cyclists and ensuring their safety.
