Tring Midsummer Fun Run

The 10th Tring Midsummer Fun Run was held on Wednesday 16th June 2010 and the fantastic weather helped it to be a great success with another record turnout of 944 runners taking part at the Tring Park Cricket Club!
This year the fun run raised nearly £5,000 for IRHH. Race director John Manning is pictured here presenting IRHH fundraising colleagues with a huge cheque representing everyone's efforts on the day and over the next few months collecting sponsorship!

The star fundraiser was 6-year-old Erik Nystrom. Erik raised £183, which was the most raised amongst all the children who took part. Eric was delighted with his prize of an Ipod shuffle, and very much enjoyed taking part in the fun run. He said his family were very proud of his achievement, and he enjoyed showing off his medal to them after the race!
There was a wide mix of children and adults of all ages taking part from schools across the Tring and the surrounding area. There were six race categories ranging from the Nursery/Reception race to the Senior race - the Nursery/Reception race was a 500m lap on the club grounds and the Seniors was a 6km circuit around Tring.
Race Director, John Manning, started each of the junior races and the Mayor of Tring, Roxanne Ransley, started the Senior run. There was also a new edition to the usual entertainments, with stalls from the local schools as well as Sambucca, the resident drum band, refreshments and the IRHH stall.
So far the run has raised just over £2,300 and with sponsorship money now rolling in we expect to reach our target of £5,500. There is a prize for the most sponsorship raised by an Under 16, but to be in with a chance of winning a brand new iPod Shuffle the sponsorship money must be with us by the end of July 2010 - so please send it in as soon as possible!
