British 10K London Run 2008 British 10K Personal Best Success
The British 10K London Run 2008 was held on Sunday 6th July 2008 and was a huge success with our team of 12 runners all finishing with excellent running times.
The day saw a variety of weather conditions, starting with dry weather at Hyde Park Corner and then a furious downpour of rain at the 6km mark. However despite the rain, our 10K team braved their way through to a relatively dry finish at Whitehall . There was a fantastic atmosphere, and our runners thoroughly enjoyed the experience of seeing the London sights on foot.
We had a very athletic team this year with all of our runners finishing in an hour or less. Two of the 2008 IRHH London Marathon Team returned to run for us again, Michelle Rawle finished in a fantastic 46.30 minutes which was a personal best and Matt Alexander finished in 37.18 minutes which placed him in 39th position overall (out of 25,000 runners) which is an impressive result - well done Matt.
Another IRHH runner, Victoria Lawrence, reported that she 'managed it in just over 49 minutes; I was planning to take it easy, but I got to 8k and realised that if I pretty much sprinted the rest I could make it in under 50 mins, and my competitive side got the better of me!'
The event looks set to raise approximately £1500 so well done to all of our runners!
