Tring Midsummer Fun Run - Star Fun Run Fundraiser!

This year's 'Star Fundraiser' is 9 year old, Amber Enfield from Dundale School , Tring, who raised a fantastic £143 in sponsorship following the Tring Fun Run in June. She was presented with an iPod Shuffle (donated by our race sponsors) which she proudly displayed along with her medal and certificate. This was the first time that Amber had taken part in the fun run and she was inspired to take part in memory of her Uncle, Chris Hearn, who sadly passed away recently after being cared for by Iain Rennie Nurses.

Amber's parents, Jeremy and Jenny, are extremely pleased and proud of her achievement and said that she was "a credit to us all." When describing the run itself Amber said that she had a stitch part of the way around but when she saw her dad waiting for her at the end she forgot all about it. Amber's Aunt Maureen, recalled that it was "an emotional day for everyone" as her husband Chris had known that Amber was going to take part in the run prior to his passing away and was very proud of her too.

IRHH is delighted that Amber raised so much sponsorship through some persistent fundraising from her neighbours, relatives and even the dinner ladies!

The 9th Tring Midsummer Fun Run was held on Wednesday 17th June 2009 and despite the wet weather was a great success with another record turnout of 825 runners taking part at the Tring Park Cricket Club!

There was a wide mix of children and adults of all ages taking part from schools across the Tring and the surrounding area. There were 6 race categories ranging from U7's to Seniors with the U7's running a 500m lap on the club grounds and the Seniors running a 6Km circuit around Tring.

Former football referee, Graham Poll started each race and also joined in the fun by running in the Senior run. There was also a new edition to the usual entertainments with the Mix 96 slide as well as Sambucca the resident drum band, refreshments and an IRHH tombola.

So far the run has raised just over £2200 and with sponsorship money now rolling in we expect to reach our target of £5000 - so if you have any sponsorship money to send in make sure you send it in by the end of July 2009 to be in with a chance to win a brand new iPod Shuffle!
