Sheila and Christine's Great Dalai Lama Trek!

Sheila Coles and Christine Ive have just returned from their Charity Challenge in India .  The challenge began and ended in Dharamasala, where the Dalai Lama and the centre of the Tibetan Community are situated at the heart of the world's highest mountain range. They followed the Uhl river through rhododendrons and evergreen forests. The route also took in Hindu settlements and isolated Buddhist monasteries. The region remains largely unvisited which makes it an unspoilt area to trek. The walking was quite challenging with lots of ups and downs and not much flat in-between, but they managed to make it, climbing to a height of 3000 metres!  At the end of their trek they treated themselves to an unforgettable visit to the Taj Mahal - what a way to end their adventure!  Together they have raised approximately £2500 - well done Sheila and Christine!

If you are interested in going on an adventure to a far-flung destination whilst raising money for The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home please contact the IRHH Fundraising Department for more information.
