Organ Recital by Mark Cyphus

The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home was delighted to welcome distinguished organist Mark Cyphus who gave an impressive recital to a large audience at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Tring on Saturday 26th April. The first part of Mark's programme focused on English composers and included works by S S Wesley, Thalben-Ball and Jeremiah Clarke. After Bach's Fantasia in G, the audience joined together for the hymn "All Creatures of our God and King" which led into works based on choral themes by Slater, Guilmant and Mark's grandfather, C E Cyphus. The recital concluded with Boellmann's "Suite Gothique".

Mark, who is currently organist at the Eleventh Church of Christ, Scientist near London's Marble Arch, is the nephew of one of the IRHH's founding nurses, Daphne Vessey, and it was Daphne who invited Mark to play for IRHH in Tring.

The IRHH is grateful to Peggy Bainbridge and Daphne Vessey and their team of helpers for organising a most enjoyable occasion.
