RAF Benevolent Fund Awards Grant of £22,500 The IRHH has been awarded a grant of £22,500 from the RAF Benevolent Fund. Air Vice Marshall John Jones visited our Tring office on Tuesday 26th August to meet with our nurses and present the cheque. The IRHH has been fortunate to have benefited from support from the RAF Benevolent Fund for many years and we are grateful to John Jones for maintaining a strong link with the IRHH nursing teams on the Fund's behalf. Deputy Director of Nursing, Sue Jarvie and Dacorum Team nurses Gerrie Smithson and Estelle Houston were delighted to meet with John and to accept the Fund's generous cheque. John described his latest visit to IRHH as "inspiring" and "uplifting".
The RAF Benevolent Fund bases its grant on the number of eligible Royal Air Force patients that Iain Rennie Nurses care for each year. With a number of major RAF bases in our area and many retired RAF personnel living locally, our nurses have the privilege of caring for a growing number of members of the RAF family each year.
Part of this grant will go towards funding laptops for our nurses who are now able to access vital information about patients over a secure link at any time of the day or night. The new system is ready to go now but we need to secure funding for the laptops. It will about £10,000 to provide a connected laptop connect for all members of each nursing team. If you know of a grant making trust or company that might be able to help us with this project, please do get in touch with Robert Breakwell rbreakwell@irhh.org on 01442 890222.
