Ian Minty's Cycle Ride from Dungeness to Ness Ian Minty has just returned home after completing an incredible cycle ride from Dungeness (on the South Coast of England) to Ness (on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland) covering a staggering 913 miles in 18 days (cycling approximately 50 miles a day).
A keen cyclist, Ian has previously cycled from the East to West Coast of Scotland but has never undertaken a challenge this demanding before so, with his 60th Birthday due at the end of July he decided to challenge himself to mark the occasion. Rather than follow the traditional route from Land's End to John O'Groats, Ian mapped out an alternative route to incorporate his home of The Isle of Lewis. Ian stayed with friends and family along the way and even dropped into Tring after having covered 125 miles of his journey to meet IRHH fundraising staff.

Ian, originally from Hemel Hempstead , decided to take up this challenge in memory of his mum, Jean Minty. Jean became a home volunteer for IRHH when she retired from nursing and visited patients in their homes across the Dacorum area, she became a patient herself some years later and sadly passed away.
Ian has so far raised £2,000 for IRHH and the Macmillan Nurses which is a fantastic result - we hope he has an excellent 60 th birthday and takes a well deserved rest!
If you would like to sponsor Ian there is still time to sponsor him online at http://www.justgiving.com/ianminty
