Meet The Pepperonies!

The 20th Pepper Show, "Pepper Rock Legends" opens this Saturday and a cast of over 130 people is putting the finishing touches to the 20th annual Pepper Show which opens on Saturday 12th July for 7 nights at the Centenary Theatre at Berkhamsted Collegiate School. Order tickets online at www.peppershow.com

The show will feature many of the best moments from the 19 previous shows including a medley of 60s classics such as "One Fine Day", "The Locomotion" and "Da Do Ron Ron" performed by The Pepperonies featuring cast members Pam Macmillan, Rachel Purser, Charlotte Stephens and Kerie Ivory. Other highlights include classics from Queen, Bon Jovi, Elton John, Abba and Status Quo all performed by a talented cast of singers and actors and local children backed by a rock ensemble.

There are still plenty of tickets available although the last Friday and Saturday (18th and 19th July) have sold out. Organisers hope that as many people as possible will buy a ticket for Berkhamsted's biggest and best musical extravaganza with all proceeds supporting the work of the Pepper Children's Nurses based with the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home who look after terminally ill children in their own homes in the Chilterns area.

'Pepper Rock Legends', is performed by local performers, rock musicians and children from Pepper Youth. State-of-the-art lighting, sparkling sound and an amazing stage set combine to provide a musical night out to remember. In addition to the show, ticket holders can also enjoy live music by great local bands, a fully-laden licensed bar and mouth-watering food both before and after all performances. There will also be a Raffle, Silent Auction and Tombola.

1989 saw Berkhamsted's first performance of the Sgt. Pepper album inspired by Karen Breakwell who had the original idea to perform the album to raise funds for local charities but who died of cancer exactly 20 years ago on 8th July 1988 before her dream was realised. The first performance organised by her husband, Robert, took place in July 1989, exactly one year after her death at the age of 30. The Sgt Pepper concerts have become a local phenomenon with the July events at Berkhamsted Collegiate School attracting large audiences and raising huge sums of money for The Pepper Nursing team based with Iain Rennie Hospice at Home.
