Lack Of Key People Threatens 2009 Pepper Show
The 2009 Pepper show will not go ahead unless several key roles can be filled by the end of October. In particular, an event chairman is needed to co-ordinate the event and the show director, marketing and producer positions are also vacant.
Pepper chairman, Jonathan Tweed, said, "There's huge energy and enthusiasm for a show in 2009 and plenty of offers of help and support from the outgoing team, but without volunteers to fill these key roles it's going to be really difficult to build on the success of this year's show and of the last 20 years of Pepper events in Berkhamsted. We're keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help and are actively encouraging all our supporters to think hard about who they know who might be interested in stepping in and we can be contacted on 0845 675 5566 or email info@pepper.org.uk."
Each year, a team of around 300 volunteer organisers comes together to stage Berkhamsted's biggest and best musical extravaganza at Berkhamsted Collegiate School's Centenary Hall with all proceeds support the Pepper Nurses who care for children with terminal or life-limiting illnesses. In 2008, Pepper celebrated its 20th show with a sell-out event which raised over £45,000 for the Pepper Nurses.
"Anyone stepping into one of these roles would receive terrific support from the existing team", continued Jonathan, "and there is no shortage of volunteer help to do the practical work of putting on the show and staging the event. We just need to find the right people who can offer us some time, skills and energy to move us into our 21st year. The summer show is our flagship event and, if it did not go ahead, it would have a big impact on the Pepper Foundation's ability to fund the children's nursing service. We will do everything we can to avoid this happening."
