Delightful Fulmer Garden Raises £1,200

The Beaconsfield Fundraising Group kick-started the Open Gardens season with a delightful 2 acre garden opening its gates on 19th April. 180 people meandered along the winding roads of South Bucks to Glen Erica in Fulmer to admire a truly beautiful setting. With plants for sale, a raffle and refreshments on offer the event raised a fantastic £1,200 for IRHH.

The house and garden itself have been with the same family since 1939, with the garden being a true testament to hard work and love over the years. Despite downpours on the previous Thursday and Friday, the day itself turned out to be a gloriously sunny one and perfect for showing the delights of this garden off to full effect. Both young and old spent time admiring the garden, which exhibited a variety of plants with many splashes of colour. Children ran along the paths mown in to a wild flower meadow whilst adults relaxed over a refreshing cup of tea and piece of homemade cake.

Betty Pearce, owner of Glen Erica, spent the afternoon chatting with visitors and sharing her horticultural knowledge, no doubt inspiring many with her enthusiasm and experience.

Thanks go to the members of the Group for organising this open garden but special thanks to Betty and her family for allowing members of the public to visit the garden to raise funds for us. The generosity of visitors was evident in the amount raised, which is an amazing amount for just one open garden on one afternoon.

If you missed this garden, there are others opening during the next couple of months and further details can be found by clicking here.
