The High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire visited our Princes Risborough shop on Tuesday 28th July to meet customers, volunteers, staff and a member of the children's nursing team who are part-funded by the money generated from the shop.
IRHH has had a shop in Market Square , Princes Risborough, for ten years and it plays a vital role in funding our innovative and highly acclaimed nursing service which is so appreciated by patients across the Chilterns area.
This year the shop aims to contribute £130,000 towards our income, and Shop Manager Lorna Mackay is confident that this can be achieved:

"We receive an amazing amount of support from the local community in and around Princes Risborough" said Lorna. "Our customers know that we have a reputation for selling a large and extremely varied selection of items, from books to clothes, and even furniture. We constantly rotate our stock and change our window display to keep the shop looking fresh and inviting, because we know that is what our customers expect." The High Sheriff, who turned out in his full ceremonial outfit, was impressed by the number and quality of items that were being donated to the shop: "The fact that, even in testing financial times, the Iain Rennie shop is continuing to sell such good quality items, so generously donated by the public, is a testament to the Great British spirit. |
My wife and I are regular donors to the shop, and have signed up to the Gift Aid scheme so that Iain Rennie can make even more money out of the items we donate. We've lived in or near Princes Risborough for 30 years and have seen the shop doing great business since it opened - long may it continue!""
The shop is supported by 45 volunteers who work different shifts throughout the week. Lorna added: "Our volunteers are simply brilliant, and without them we simply couldn't run our shop. There is a fantastic team atmosphere, and all the volunteers contribute to our success, whether its on the shop floor, behind the scenes, or with specialist knowledge in certain areas. If there is anybody who would like to join our merry gang, please ask to speak to me next time you are in the town."
| Iain Rennie Nurse, Jenny Buchan , also met the High Sheriff. Jenny has been with IRHH for 24 years, almost since the service began, and is a member of the Pepper Children's Nursing Team who care for sick and bereaved children across the Chilterns. Jenny said: "The High Sheriff was very interested to hear how our nursing service has developed over the years. | ![]() The High Sheriff and Jenny Buchan |
With better care and treatment available these days, terminally ill children are living longer and are able to stay at home where they feel more comfortable, with their friends and family around them. I am proud to be part of the Iain Rennie nursing service and to do my bit to improve the lives of young people in our area."
