Corporates Build Over £9,400 In Donations for IRHH

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) held a Charity Dinner and Auction on Friday 20th November at the Bellhouse Hotel in Beaconsfield choosing IRHH to benefit from the proceeds raised. This event has been over a year in the planning with Steve Cooper and Roy Eyles leading its 'construction'. At the same time, the CIOB are celebrating their 175th anniversary.

Over 160 people received a warm welcome on arrival and were ushered into the bar area where the sounds of the harp created the prefect ambiance. Once in the room, guests were greeted by a glorious sea of orange and purple balloons weighted down by a.brick. Bill Giles (left) welcomed everyone on behalf of Iain Rennie after which MC Roger Dakin (ex hockey goalkeeper for England ) took control of the evening. A quick game of heads and tails was followed by a delicious three course meal.

Roger (right) delivered one seamless and effortless punch line after the other and his wit and good humour kept the audience laughing throughout the evening. Roger is also an experienced auctioneer and his skill at drawing out that extra bid was both entertaining and rewarding. Auction items ranged from a half hour helicopter training flight to 2 VIP tickets to Old Trafford to see Manchester United play. It also included tickets to see a recording of the Graham Norton show, a spa treatment and a private viewing of a film of your choice for up to 60 guests. Two of the most popular lots were the two pairs of tickets to see a recording of Top Gear.

Bill Giles then delivered an enlightening view on life as a BBC weatherman and was followed by Graham Poll (left) whose mixture of insightful, thought provoking and amusing stories shed a new light on his life as football referee. Our heartfelt thanks go to both of our IRHH patrons.

The evening raised over £9,400 and we would like to thank Steve, Roy, and the CIOB for their wonderful support of Iain Rennie. We would also like to thank the sponsors of the auction and raffle prizes and the impressive young people who went around the tables selling tickets and helping where needed. The cheque presentation was Tuesday 15th December.
