Don't Panic Mr Mainwaring - Dad's Army are here!
In December a group of members (mostly ex-players) from Tring Squash Club gathered for lunch at the Valiant Trooper in Aldbury.
From an inaugural lunch in Dec 2000, the event has gone from strength to strength. Starting as a Christmas meal for eight, the lunch has gained popularity in the squash club and this year 26 attended, all dressed as characters from 1940.
One reason for the event's success has been the adoption of a theme based on a TV comedy. This year's theme was Dad's Army!
Previous themes were The Beverly Hillbillies, Only Fools And Horses, Porridge, Allo' Allo', Last Of The Summer Wine, and Father Ted.
In aid of Iain Rennie there was a raffle, CD's from the war years for sale, and lots of fines for misdemeanours! In total £381 was raised.
