Kat and Will Skydive in memory of Jeremy!

Brother and sister, Kat and Will Hardman jumped from 10,000 feet in a sponsored Skydive on 6th December 2008 in memory of their good friend Jeremy Plank who was cared for by IRHH nurses.  Jeremy intended to do a skydive to raise money for breast cancer research, in August 2008 however a few weeks before his skydive, he was sadly diagnosed with cancer and lost his battle against it just eight weeks later, at the tender age of 26.  So it was a fitting tribute to Jeremy that Kat and Will decided to take part in a sponsored skydive in his place.

Kat told us that: ' The skydive itself was quite an experience! For me, the most frightening part was going up in the plane watching the altimeter ticking up and the world below getting smaller and smaller. When the plane door opens for the first time - that is also pretty hairy!  By the time I got to the plane door and leant out, I think I was numb.  Both Will and I agree that the most exhilarating part of the experience is the first few seconds of the freefall. Although you can feel the wind rushing past you, you don't really feel like you are moving towards the ground, it is a weird sensation.  Its takes approximately 50-60 seconds to freefall 1.5 miles before the instructor opens the parachute allowing for a much gentler decent.  If you are considering doing a skydive yourself, I would highly recommend the experience, so long as you don't suffer too badly with motion/ travel sickness; Will and I both felt a little green a few hours afterwards!

I hope this donation will have a significant impact on the amazing work that IRHH does and will go some way towards showing our deep felt gratitude for the invaluable service Iain Rennie provided for our dear friend Jeremy, his family and his girlfriend
.'

Kat and Will have so far raised an amazing £2000 which is a fantastic achievement and they are still going strong!  Will added: 'We had quite an incredible response to our fundraising and I know that the money is going to make a difference. Jeremy was a popular and well known guy.  The nurse from Iain Rennie was an incredible help to him and to his family so it's wonderful to be able to give something back.'
