A Summer Serenade raises over £2,000

A very enjoyable evening was had by many IRHH supporters who attended the recent 'Summer Serenade', performed by the RAF Halton Area Band in High Wycombe . The Union Baptist Church provided a lovely setting, complementing the magic of the music and the voice of the Soprano, Madeleine Pierard. Those who turned up expecting to hear Anna Leese, were disappointed to find that illness prevented her from performing but were instead treated to the wonderful voice of Madeleine, who kindly stepped in at very short notice.

The band was superb, expertly led under the guidance of Michael Pegram, Musical Director. Michaels' engagement with the audience was well received, with his comic injections generating much laughter. The music played was varied, from the opening Holyrood March to the closing 'Beatles: Echoes of an Era'.

Christine Nisbet added that 'The RAF Halton Area Band with guest soloist Madeleine Piergard (soprano) gave nearly 230 people a wonderful evening on Saturday 27 June. Music was varied, the band played splendidly and the singing of Madeleine was just super. We anticipate the event will raise in the region of £2000 for our favourite charity. More ticket sales would have generated more profit, but there was huge competition in High Wycombe that particular evening!!'

Our thanks go to Christine and the members of the High Wycombe and Amersham Fundraising Group for organising yet another superb and well attended event. The amount raised is testament to the hard work and enthusiasm of this Group in raising substantial sums for IRHH.
