Wendover Open Garden

On a sunny summer afternoon, over 250 people descended on the beautiful gardens of Bucksbridge House in Wendover, helping to raise a fantastic £1,300. Bill Giles , IRHH patron, was present during the afternoon, which lived up to his prediction of being a glorious one, both in terms of the weather and the success of the afternoon!

Owners of Bucksbridge House, Steve and Alison Louis, were only too pleased to open their garden to raise funds for us in support of the help being provided by IRHH nurses to the mother of Gloria Stanbridge, their gardener. Alison commented that the day was 'glorious', with Gloria adding that she was 'just pleased to be able to pay something back to IRHH'. With the amount raised providing 13 days of nursing care, the opening of this garden and the generosity of the visitors will certainly make a difference to IRHH.

With beautiful shrubs, a rose garden, mixed herbaceous border and picture perfect vegetable plots, there was plenty of interest for gardeners of all abilities. Linda Petrons, Senior Appeals Secretary at IRHH visited the garden, summing it up as a 'stunningly beautiful classic English garden'. A non-stop queue for tea and cakes, a raffle, plant stall and sale of cards all helped to raise this substantial sum for IRHH.

We would like to thank Steve and Alison, Gloria and all those who helped them on the day for working so hard to make this event such a success.
