All Aboard for the Thames Traditional Boat Rally

IRHH guests enjoyed a wonderful day beside the river at Fawley Meadows near Henley on Saturday 18th July - we were very lucky indeed to have a dry day as on the surrounding days it poured!

The rally & charity marquee were generously sponsored by The Michael Shanly Group.

Following a champagne reception, Peter Meech PR Director for the rally and Commentator Patrick Lunt welcomed guests. A lovely buffet lunch was followed by a trip on the steamboat Alaska , the oldest passenger steamboat on the Thames having been built in 1883. Many more beautiful wooden craft were on display moored along the river bank and throughout the afternoon a parade of the rally boats passed by accompanied by an informative commentary. As ever one of the highlights was the sail past of some of the famous Dunkirk Little Ships. The day was rounded off by a delicious afternoon tea.
