Beautiful gardens and glorious sunshine help to raise over £2,200

Beaconsfield Fundraising Group organised 4 Open Gardens in Gerrards Cross on Sunday 31 May and generated a fantastic £2,220 for IRHH. With the sun beating down and the garden owners having finalised the preparations for the opening of their gardens, the onslaught of visitors began, even before the official opening time of 2pm.

Keen gardeners of all ages enjoyed a leisurely and relaxing time admiring the four beautiful gardens. Points of interest included herbaceous borders, rhododendrons, climbing roses, clematis, a 'topiaried' leylandii screen, alpines, herbs, wild-life area, water-lily pond, fruit and vegetable plots and wooded areas. With such different garden designs there was plenty of interest for all visitors, whatever their interest and many people went away with new inspiration for their own gardens.

A wide range of plants for sale and mouthwatering cakes on offer at the refreshment stall, which seemed to have a never-ending queue for tea, helped to ensure a successful afternoon.

The Group have now raised over £4,000 this year with garden related events, including an Open Garden in Fulmer, which alone raised £1,250. Sue Lynch, from the Beaconsfield Group, would like to thank everyone involved in these events; to those who helped at the events themselves or those who helped with behind the scenes preparations.

IRHH would like to thank the Group for their dedication, enthusiasm and hard-work in organising such successful and varied events.
