Beaconsfield's Flower Power Lunch
A scrumptious lunch followed by an entertaining demonstration of flower arranging provided a weekday treat for around 80 ladies at the Fitzwilliam Centre. The talented Jan Harrison, assisted by Sandra Garey, showed how to get the best from your blooms with seasonal arrangements starting with simple single flower stems and progressing to more elaborate wreaths with exotic orchids and tropical foliage.

In keeping with the spirit of Halloween, Jan created a colourful display using a pumpkin as a vase - she'd caused great amusement at the greengrocers inspecting all the pumpkins to get one just the right shape! Another highlight was a simple but highly effective and unusual presentation of willow and tulips arranged inside a goldfish bowl. Three lucky ladies walked away with floral arrangements generously donated as raffle prizes.
