Kop Hill Climb supports IRHH to the tune of £10,000

The organisers of the Kop Hill Climb event, held at Princes Risborough on 26th /27th September, have generously donated a fantastic £10,000 to IRHH from the proceeds.

With glorious sunshine, more than 250 exhibitors and 5,000 spectators over the weekend, the event was a huge success for all concerned.

The IRHH stall was present over the 2 days, with our Retail & Trading team selling Christmas Cards and other merchandise and Community Fundraising offering a popular Lollipop Pick and Treasure Hunt.  Souvenir Kop Hill Climb posters were also available for purchase, having been printed by the Fundraising Team.  With over £630 raised from the stall, and the donation from the organisers, a total of £10,630 has been generated from the event.

Joanne Hunt , Community Fundraiser, and David Coles, IRHH volunteer, were present on the Sunday and were each fortunate to be invited to take part in the hill climb. Joanne explained: "The hill climb experience in a 3 wheel 1950 Morgan was exhilarating and the memory will remain for a very long time.  To be involved in this wonderful event was enough, but to have been able to actually make the ascent really made my day!"

In accepting the cheque from Tony Davies, the organiser of the event, IRHH Chief Executive Robert Breakwell said: "The amount presented will have a very substantial effect on the amount of care provided to terminally ill patients in the Risborough area.  With the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home's Primary Care Trust income now reduced to 12% of the total needed and a growing number of patients being referred to us each year (we will look after 1000 patients this year), our reliance on donations and community support is more important than ever before.  You can be sure that the £10,000 will be spent wisely and will directly benefit local people in Princes Risborough."

For those who were unable to attend over the weekend, watch out for details of next year's Centenary event which will no doubt be just as popular and successful.
