The residents of Woollerton Court sheltered housing in Princes Risborough said a sad farewell to resident warden Margaret Gilbert last week, who is retiring having been there for the last 14 years. Margaret and her team have raised over £11,000 for IRHH over the last five years.
Margaret started organising fundraising events in September 2002 with a Macmillan Coffee Morning and in the first three years raised £3,121 for Macmillan. In March 2004 Margaret and the residents decided to start raising money for a local charity, and chose IRHH because of the fantastic work we do locally, caring for terminally ill patients at home. Some of the residents have had first-hand experience of the Iain Rennie nurses, when either they or a partner has benefited from the 24-hour nursing service.
Last week's Fish'n'Chip Supper and Coffee Morning raised £873 for IRHH, bringing the total since 2004 to £11,011.
Stephen Biggs, IRHH Communications Officer, who along with Stella Wilkinson, Community Fundraiser, was invited to attend last week's Coffee Morning said: "For the residents of Woollerton Court to raise over £14,000 is an incredible achievement. At Iain Rennie we rely heavily on the support we receive from the community to raise the money needed to fund our nursing service and the £11,000 raised by the fantastic people at Woollerton Court will effectively fund a nurse for six months. We are extremely grateful to the residents and to Margaret for organising the fundraising over the years, and we wish Margaret an enjoyable and well-earned retirement."
