To support the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge, community fundraiser, Jo Neale, came up with a unique and quirky way to fundraise for the event by having images of the 3 Peaks (Whiteleaf Cross, Coombe Hill and Ivinghoe Beacon) painted onto her pregnant baby bump (along with two other friends to recreate the 3 Peaks in a Baby 3 Peaks Challenge !
Jo explained her idea: "I wanted to support the Chiltern 3 Peaks in anyway that I could but as I am 36 weeks pregnant (and counting) I was unable to take part in the 9 mile sponsored walk. After reading an article about a new trend in 'Baby Bump Painting' I hit upon the idea of creating my own 'Baby 3 Peaks Challenge.' I think some people think I'm barking mad but I am really happy that my bump and I can help to promote the Chiltern 3 Peaks. It's funny to think that my baby is a fundraiser for Iain Rennie already - it must take after its mum!"
The other ladies who joined Jo were Sarah Llewhellyn (who is 37 weeks pregnant and from Tring) and Amanda Fahy (who was 32 weeks pregnant and from Harpenden). Sarah had Coombe Hill Monument on her tummy, Amanda had, Whiteleaf Cross and Jo sported Ivinghoe Beacon. The bumps took an hour each to paint and the babies seemed to enjoy the experience as much as their mums! Potten End based company, nappysnaps, kindly offered their services to help Jo turn her idea into a reality. Kati Jackson from nappysnaps explained her reasons for supporting the idea: "I felt it was important to support Iain Rennie and the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge because they provide an invaluable and essential service for many people and their families, being as there is little or no government funding I feel strongly that we should do what we can to help support the cause and the hard work that goes into providing these services." |
