Charity shop re-opens after facelift Our Bennettsgate charity shop unveiled its new look on 20th August following extensive refurbishment as part of our rolling programme of improvement to our growing chain of charity shops. IRHH Director of Nursing Sue Varvel and Mayor of Dacorum Borough Council Cllr Roger Taylor declared the shop officially open for business again.
The Bennettsgate store, the second IRHH charity shop to be opened in the Chilterns, first opened its doors to the public in 1999. During its 11 years of trading, it has enjoyed great support from local residents in terms of volunteers, items donated and custom, and has played a large part in the charity's Retail and Trading income stream, which this year is set to top £1million.
However, the branch in Bennett's End was in need of a thorough freshen up and facelift, including a new sign for the shop's frontage, an interior display board explaining the charity's mission, new flooring, fixtures and fittings.
Head of IRHH's Retail & Trading Lesley Blencowe said: "Our 11 charity shops are a visible presence for IRHH in our local community. We're very fortunate to enjoy excellent support from local residents, but we're conscious that many customers aren't aware of the full service that we offer as a charity. The refurbishment means the new and improved Bennettsgate shop will provide an enhanced shopping experience for our customers as well as spreading the IRHH message. We want all our customers to be aware that their support helps us give patients in the Chilterns with a life-limiting illness the chance to be cared for at home."
