Moira and Fern open new IRHH shop

Buckinghamshire resident and TV personality Fern Britton is the latest local celebrity to sign up to support IRHH during our 25th anniversary year.

Following a visit to our Gillian King House office, where she met staff members including Iain Rennie nurses, the well-known presenter kindly agreed to open our 10th charity shop in Holmer Green on Friday 14th May.  Fern was accompanied by IRHH president Moira Rennie, and they cut the ribbon together, watched by a large crowd who then enjoyed looking round the new shop in Pond Approach.  This latest addition to the charity's chain includes a new venture for IRHH.  As well as the usual clothing, shoes, books, and household items, the Holmer Green store will stock a large range of furniture.

As the shop was officially opened, Fern said: "I hope you all love this new shop and enjoy spending your money in it and donating to it".

Moira added: "I am so excited about this new shop. Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to put the image of Iain Rennie Hospice at Home into the community."

Fern then spent time talking to customers, volunteers and staff and having her photo taken with anyone who asked!

Income generated by the IRHH charity shops - £750,000 last year alone - helps fund our nurses and ensures terminally ill patients in the Chilterns can choose to be cared for at home.  The charity relies on the generosity of local residents in donating items to be sold in its charity shops.  Lesley Blencowe , IRHH Retail and Trading Manger said: "We are so grateful for the support we receive in this way.  Just by donating good quality clothes, crockery, books and other items they no longer need or use, people in the local area have helped us raised three quarters of a million pounds through our charity shops and eBay store.  Please keep thinking of us - and don't forget that we can now sell furniture too!"

Pop into the Holmer Green store to meet shop manager Pamela Hughes and her assistant Claire Fazekas and browse the bargains on offer.  If you donate goods, then consider signing up to Gift Aid, and your donation will raise even more money for IRHH.  We're always looking for volunteers to help in our charity shops; if you can spare a few hours and would like to get involved, contact Jane Carruthers on 01494 877200 or call the shop on 01494 715929.
