Marathon achievement for20 local residents ran the London Marathon on 17th April in aid of IRHH. Some of the Iain Rennie runners are pictured here in early April taking a break from weekend training in the run-up to the big event. The team re-convened at The Robin Hood pub in Tring on Thursday 14th April to load up on carbohydrates at the pub's pre-race pasta party.

Members of the team had varying degrees of experience at running marathons with novices and veterans alike, but everyone's hard work in recent months to build up their fitness for the prestigious international event paid off as they all crossed the famous finishing line.
Charity mascot Rennie Bear took a trip into town to congratulate the runners, joining IRHH staff and volunteers at the 18-mile mark, where he received ‘high-fives' and even a hug from one friendly runner!

The cheering squad watched out for Iain Rennie runners, all of whom wore white IRHH running vests – a new-look for the hospice charity - kindly sponsored by Coffee Nation.
One of the coffee company's directors was part of the team, having raised more than £4,000 in sponsorship in memory of his late wife, Jane, whom IRHH nursed ten years ago.
Another former carer and London Marathon veteran, Paul Alexander, decided to run at the last minute. Mid-training for a triathlon, Paul wasn't feeling in marathon form but couldn't resist taking up the challenge for the charity that cared for his mother-in-law.
Other runners included local pub landlady Tania Johnson and IRHH Healthcare Assistant Sarah Sambrooks.
So far, the team have pledged more than £30,000 between them, and are well on their way to the £50,000 target. If you would like to help them reach that target, please click here to make an online donation.
