Golfers raise valuable funds
Members of Ellesborough Golf club have been raising funds throughout the last 12 months after choosing IRHH as one of their two charities of the year.
Judy Redrup, Ladies' Captain reports: “Over £4,000 was raised at our Charity Day in September when thirty six teams of 4 played in a mixed 18-hole Stableford Competition. The day included Bucks Fizz and homemade cakes at the Halfway House and a three course lunch or evening dinner. The Tombola and Beat the Pro Competition were good moneyspinners and the evening auction was particularly lucrative thanks to the many generous donations by members and local firms including a thrilling 45 minute flight in a De Havilland MK 10!”
The Ladies Section also ran a Bridge Drive serving a delicious tea of dainty sandwiches and homemade cakes to raise £1,250.
Several smaller amounts were raised throughout the year with various events:
- Drive In - members placed bets on where the captain's ball would land
- Christmas Card - members made donations to sign a communal card
- Ladies' Captain's Day - donations on the day
- Ball Sweeps (raffles) - at all big meetings
- Walnuts - one member brought walnuts back from France and donated the sale proceeds
- Small Change - one member emptied her purse of all coins under 10p every night for a year and donated £85!!
The total amount raised is a fantastic £6,625.86 so we'd like to say a huge thank you to Judy and everyone who has been involved throughout the 2010/2011 season.
